Business Unit Introduction:

The IBM Messaging team is part of IBM Cloud BU and has a tremendous history of delivering and supporting class-leading products that are relied upon by the world's largest companies. In recent years the department has received awards for its creative development practices for products both old and new. Transformation and innovation are at the heart of what we do. Any new recruit to the department must be capable and willing to maintain our position at the forefront of messaging and development technology.

IBM's flagship messaging product, MQ, is constantly evolving to match our clients needs. MQ has traditionally been viewed as an on-premise product. Recent innovations have proven MQ's applicability to cloud and hybrid environments. This move to the cloud has resonated strongly with our customers and it is clearly time to accelerate the development of cloud facilitation features.

Who you are:
  • As MQ Level 3 Support & development team member you will have wide range of opportunities to apply your skills and expertise ranging from formulating a technical understanding of customer reported problems, design/development of remediation code fixes to quality assurance.
  • The role seeks good levels of personal organization, and the ability to work well with a distributed team in a dynamic and exciting environment.
  • You will play your part as a software engineer within the team carrying out Level 3 Support, development, testing and operational activities.
  • You will be required to communicate your status on a daily basis, come up with creative solutions to problems and be flexible supporting the team where your help is required and to be able to demonstrate a positive attitude and a passion to succeed.

What youll do:

As MQ team member you will be involved in
  • Apply analytical skills to diagnose customer issues, provide thoughtful, expert advice to help mitigate problems and deliver product fixes.
  • Design and development of code fixes for IBM Messaging products.
  • Development of tooling to aid in enhancement of product experience.
  • Design, development and execution of test scenarios, test cases.

Required Professional and Technical Expertise
  • 4+ years of relevant industry experience
  • Working knowledge of C/C++ programming languages.
  • Expertise in Unix/Windows and Scripting (Python/Shell )
  • Ability to pickup product and technical skills quickly and become productive at the earliest.
  • Proven communication skills.

Preferred Professional and Technical Expertise
  • Experience in software problem solving & diagnosis
  • Exposure to dev/diagnostic tools and processes (GDB,VisualSudio, Windbg,Wireshark)
  • Familiarity to any Messaging product (IBM MQ, Apache Kafka, MQTT).
  • Exposure to agile development methodology and tools (RTC/Salesforce)
