What You'll Do

       
Help to design and support OpenEmbedded-based Linux distribution that runs on entire Enterprise Product Lines which includes millions of Cisco Enterprise Networking, Wireless and IoT devices. The distro provides Linux kernels and userspace FOSS for 10+ SoCs across 5 CPU architectures (x86/ARM/ARM64/PPC/MIPS64).

       Collaborate with distributed teams and work across whole SW stack (from bootloaders to customer-facing applications) to solve complex system issues including HW/SW bugs and performances bottlenecks.

       Help product teams to bring up new HW platforms and develop missing functionality and drivers.

       Help to develop and maintain Linux BSPs for in-house Cisco SoCs.

       Develop tools, processes and automation to streamline Linux distro development: build, packaging, deployment, security vulnerability tracking (CVE), mass migrations, etc.

       Improve debuggability and security of Cisco devices.

       Work with opensource communities and contribute changes to upstream projects. (CISCO is Platinum member of Linux/YOCTO communities)

 

       Mostly work with a large C codebase, but occasionally may need work with Python, Bash, C++, Perl and Lua code

 

Who You'll Work With

Enterprise Network Group: is integral part of our Intent Based Networking Strategy. Our team works on long-lasting customer partnerships, together to identify our customers' needs and provide solutions that fuel their success. Cisco IOS-XE (Enterprise) technology solves, creates, inspires, heals and secures to help build your bridge to possible. We work on products in Enterprise Networking space, Security and Collaboration market segment. You will work with open source (kernel and FOSS) industry veterans who participate in Open Source communities and contribute. You will also work with largest networking operating system in the worked called IOS. You will be part of HW/SW design teams working on next generation Enterprise products.

 

Who You Are

       Have experience of low-level SW development (firmware/RTOS/Linux).

       Have excellent problem-solving and communication skills.

       Have solid understanding of CPU architecture and modern OS design and have solid C coding skills.

       Have good debugging skills. View bugs as an opportunity to learn something new about a system. Able to drill down into lower levels of SW and HW to understand what is actually happening in the system.

       Able to quickly get up to speed in unfamiliar projects and environments.

       Contributed to opensource projects and be able to apply new SW technologies to current and new products.

       Languages: C/C++, Python, shell scripts. Exposure to very large code base and use of latest source code management/review tools is MUST (GIT, Gerrit etc.)

              BS / MS (CS or EE) with 2+ years of experience in networking/software industry
