Your Role and Responsibilities
IBM Watson Government Health and Human Services is currently searching for a Solution Architect to join our team.

*Must be able to travel weekly or relocate to Frankfort, Kentucky

As a Solution Architect, you will play a critical role driving new solution development, architectural standards and continued client satisfaction by applying deep technology expertise to complex challenges. This role will work closely with peers, development teams, and client services, and will interact with clients as a technical subject matter expert.

The successful candidate will need an in-depth understanding of industry leading architectural patterns, cloud and data management technologies, and data analytics platforms relevant to the healthcare space from a design, development and implementation perspective. The candidate will be able to demonstrate knowledge of all aspects of key technology platforms, infrastructure, database, security and business intelligence software platforms, management and automation tools, analytics, and operational components of large-scale data warehousing and business intelligence solutions.

Essential Responsibilities
  • Develop architectural patterns and best practices applied to the government health and human services space
  • Work across the organization to mentor and train delivery teams on systems and patterns best practices and review and approve proposed implementation architectures
  • Provide recommendations and participates in activities related to the design, development, and maintenance of the Enterprise Architecture (EA)
  • Establish system information requirements in the development of enterprise-wide or large-scale information systems
  • Build a long-term strategic roadmap for Integration of IT systems architecture, and recommend to customers
  • Advise and recommends enterprise architecture strategies, processes and methodologies
  • Recommend and participates in the development of architecture blueprints for related systems
  • Design architecture to include the software, hardware, and communications to support the total requirements as well as provide for present and future cross-functional requirements and interfaces
  • Validate the solution is compatible and in compliance with the standards for architecture, integration and security
  • Share best practices, lessons learned, and constantly updates the technical system architecture requirements based on changing technologies, and knowledge related to recent, current and upcoming products and solutions
  • Participate in the design and implementation of IT service management standards, tools and methodologies
  • Candidate expected to have a broad understanding with depth on one or more of these subject areas and technologies: analytics, business intelligence, master data management, meta data management, ETL, data warehousing, modeling, and database systems.
  • Work with the wider Watson Health, IBM and external vendor community to research and introduce new technologies and approaches to the organization

Required Technical and Professional Expertise
Must work in Frankfort, Kentucky up to five days a week
  • 5+ years experience in large scale, complex systems architecture and implementations
  • Enterprise Architecture, Systems Design and Implementation
  • Minimum five (5) years experience in extensive experience with enterprise architecture which includes designing, integrating, and managing complex Integration solutions
  • Minimum three (3) years experience engineering system hardware, software, and applications
  • Minimum three (3) years experience with business process and performance modeling, benchmarking, and financial analysis
  • Minimum three (3) years experience in the healthcare industry

Preferred Technical and Professional Expertise
  • Bachelor degree in Computer Science or a related field
  • Experience with Medicaid and Medicaid Information Technology Architecture (MITA)
  • Experience with design and implementations of large-scale analytics platforms
  • Experience working with government clients with exposure to security standards, architectural patterns
  • Experience presenting to executive-level decision makers and leadership
