What Youll Do

You will be responsible for supporting Ciscos premier SW buying program: the Enterprise Agreement program.  You will work creatively and collaboratively across many teams as new offers are added to the EA Program portfolio and as the EA Program grows and changes.  You will collaborate regularly with Ciscos SW Sales team, the Offer Monetization Office (OMO) and our Operations teams to support this program.   You will work regularly with Cisco Legal's global multidisciplinary team of professionals and with OMO/SW Sales to create materials that educate customers and partners about the legal framework supporting this program and our SW/SaaS product portfolio generally.  You will partner with Ciscos internal business teams to improve our SW/SaaS policies and processes.

Responsibilities

Provide excellent legal support to accelerate sales of our SW through the Enterprise Agreement.  Lead initiatives aimed at simplifying and standardizing SW sales to allow Cisco to meet its buying program targets.  You have a sharp business focus, are proactive, decisive, and highly collaborative.

Daily work includes:

  • Identify and implement strategies and processes to improve the EA Program
  • Manage the EA Program templates and fallback/negotiated buying program terms
  • Manage inputs into the EA Business Desk
  • Drive processes and materials to help Legal scale for growth and reduce contract cycle time.  Partner with other Legal team members and other business functions to drive business objectives
  • Build strong internal and external relationships while balancing the needs in Ciscos engineering and sales priorities
  • Provide continuous improvement of standard form agreements, playbooks, contract templates, and legal and operational processes
  • Effectively advise, educate and train on and assist in the enforcement of Ciscos offer policies processes
  • Work in a sprint process on special projects that deliver results for Cisco

Who You Are

You are comfortable with uncomfortable situations where you must quickly learn new areas of Ciscos business and operations, seek improvements to the status quo and work cross-functionally but still drive to completion of projects.  You have excellent legal and business judgment, possess strong critical thinking and writing skills, and a proven work ethic. You should be able to work independently as well as collaboratively and flexibly in a collegial, fast-paced and rapidly changing environment, and adapt your approach and demeanor to match shifting demands of different situations and varied personalities. You have excellent communication skills (oral and written) and advanced interpersonal and influencing abilities to build trusted relationships both within and outside the legal department. Success requires self-motivation, self-reliance, confidence, diligence and a passion to learn about new technologies and businesses. Required qualifications include:

  • J.D. and excellent academic credentials.
  • State Bar member in good standing and eligibility to practice.
  • 8+ years of relevant legal, in-house and law firm experience.
  • Extensive background in software licensing/SaaS and commercial transactions, preferably in the technology industry.
  • Experience with privacy and data protection issues, including strong knowledge of global privacy laws, particularly GDPR.
  • Solid knowledge of intellectual property laws.
  • Intellectual curiosity to learn about new technologies and understand product architecture.
  • Practical business judgment and understanding of the difference between legal requirements and business risk.
  • Strong organizational and program management skills and the ability to prioritize and handle several simultaneous projects for multiple businesses under deadline pressure.
