Job Description

Teva is searching for a Senior Manager, Utilities & Facilities Engineering to join our team in Irvine!

The Senior Manager, Utilities & Facilities Engineering oversees employees involved in the 24/7 plant operation and maintenance of the various central utilities and facilities systems at TEVA Parenteral, Irvine.

You will:

  • Drive Safety and Compliance Culture.
  • Oversee the monitoring and control building automation systems to ensure the production areas are within specification to support the operations of aseptic filling of parenteral products.
  • Oversee maintenance of lyophilization, refrigeration systems including improvements, preventative and emergency maintenance activities.
  • Oversee and review contracted maintenance work to ensure work is done correctly and in a quality manner and oversee the fire alarms and protection systems.
  • Assign, review and closeout routine and non-routine work orders using CMMS. Review CMMS job plans, make changes/improvements where needed following establish SOPs.
  • Oversee Kronos timekeeping, approve end of pay period timecards, enter and maintain record of Personal Time Off (PTO).
  • Participate in performance management process for all direct reports. Assign tasks to off-shifts personnel, track progress and verify completion of maintenance and critical system operations.
  • Verify all direct reports keep up to date with compliance, GMP and safety training.
  • Seek out cost savings, document savings and submit for review.
  • Supervise personnel responsible for operating and maintaining the Central Utility Plant develop processes and systems to ensure 24/7 operation with minimal down time.
  • Oversee capital projects, repairs, preventative and emergency maintenance associate to Facilities & Utilities equipment such as but not limited to HVAC equipment, steam and hot water boilers, water heaters and heat exchangers, chillers, pumps, compressed air and vacuum systems. 
  • Oversee critical systems operation and maintenance, such as Water for Injection, Purified Water, Clean Steam and Clean gases distribution. Make recommendations for operational improvement as technical SME for these systems.
  • Provide input and assistance in maintaining maintenance log for GMP and other critical areas.  Along with others, oversee responsibility for change control.
  • Support energy saving initiatives by installing high efficiency products and equipment, maintaining energy saving night setback, building lighting controls and VFD drives.  Replace outdated energy inefficient motors and equipment with high efficiency models.
  • Work with the EAM maintenance information coordinator and Reliability Engineering to realign preventive maintenance due dates.
  • Review operation and maintenance manuals in order to write proper job plans for new assets. Update and correct existing job plans and eliminate unnecessary steps and excessive maintenance while following Teva Safety, Health, and Environmental policies and procedures.     
  • Support Reliability Centered Maintenance initiatives.
  • Support EHS and Quality Systems activities such as Change Control, Events investigations and CAPAs.
  • Bachelors degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering preferred.
  • 12 + years experience in pharmaceutical facilities in a GLP/GMP environment required.
  • 5+ years previous supervisory experience required.
  • 5+ years of Reliability Center Maintenance experience and Predictive Maintenance Technologies required.
  • Demonstrated prior experience with CMMS (e.g. EAM, MAXIMO, SAP), HVAC systems, Clean Utilities System and Building Management Systems (BMS).
  • In depth knowledge of OSHA regulations, and comfortable working with the FDA, EPA, township and local authorities required.
  • Demonstrated ability to deal with people, supervise assigned personnel, and problem solving.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. required.
