SmithBucklin, a 100% employee-owned company that provides management and services to associations, is currently in search of a high performing Staff Accountant in Chicago. In joining our Corporate Finance Team at the SmithBucklin Headquarters, you will have the opportunity to explore various areas of finance and accounting in a fast-paced, consultative environment.
What You Will Do
- Perform a range of accounting and analytical tasks in addition to interpreting financial reports and data to ensure accuracy, completeness and compliance with company and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles
- Oversee accounting operations for service units and overhead units
- Prepare and distribute customized financial reports by established monthly deadlines while ensuring for the quality, timeliness and integrity of data
- Prepare balance sheet account reconciliations on a monthly basis
- Collaborate with senior management of service units to produce detailed, monthly analytical reports including variance reports and trend analysis
- Evaluate monthly financial results with CFO Financial Reporting Team, noting business results and trends
- Serve as a key contributor in assuring adherence to monthly financial closing schedule (within 10 business days)
- Provide support for the monthly forecasts and annual budgets
- Assist with monthly board reports and act as a resource during the annual audit

- You possess excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to confidently work with upper-level management and executives
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year institution with a concentration in Accounting
- 0-3 years of related accounting experience
Preferred Qualifications
- High level of proficiency in Excel, Epicor and Limelight software is a plus
- Proficiency with basic computer programming, including the Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
