As an Industry Storage Solution Seller in IBM Global Markets, you will apply in depth knowledge of State & Local Government, Healthcare, and Life sciences industry solutions to sell transformation initiatives to c-suite and line of business. A strategic thinker and business influencer, you'll partner with clients to co-create innovative solutions that enable new business processes and models driven by digital disruption. You will team with client leadership, IBM sellers and IBM ecosystems partners to identify cross-IBM solutions that give clients a sustainable competitive advantage. You will use creative prospecting techniques to generate demand in new accounts or expand IBM's reach in existing accounts with new solutions.

The Solution Representative Brand Specialist is responsible for developing specific Brand/product specific solutions that address client's business needs (both industry and business) and deliver client value while supporting brand specific business strategies. The employee guides functional objectives or technologies.
Environment: Professional knowledge related to incumbent's function/business unit and its processes.
Communication/Negotiation: Advise other professionals. Effectively utilize group dynamics. Negotiate to define approaches and goals.
Problem Solving: Recognize complex problems related to functional objectives. Analyze situations and implement solutions, or develop new system elements, procedures or processes. Creativity and judgment applied to developmental work on different projects within the business environment.
Contribution/Leadership: Provides ongoing technical /operational guidance to lead professional work teams, conducts special projects, or manages department(s) (national or international). Understand department/ functional mission and vision. Defines and decides objectives within specified business concept or project and may have responsibility for tools and assigned resources. Utilizes expertise to directly influence people outside department or function. Sometimes no precedent exists.
Impact on Business/Scope: Accountable for department results and for activities and/or projects involving multi-functional teams. Regularly participates in overall functional program planning. Activities are subject to business measurements, impact customer satisfaction, and impact project costs or expenses.

  • Proven ability to articulate and deliver compelling, industry-focused solutions and value in the State & Local Government, Healthcare, and Life sciences
  • In-depth knowledge of industry value drivers in order to create clear compelling value propositions
  • Proven ability to sell Services, including Software as a Service
  • Demonstrated expertise with cross-brand selling
  • In-depth business development, sales and/or consultant experience
  • Strong collaboration and negotiation skills
  • Proven ability to prospect and sell to new accounts
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication (oral and written) skills at all levels of an organization
  • Driven and self-motivated with an entrepreneurial spirit and a commitment to excellence in everything they do
  • Ability to build and maintain positive business relationships with peers and customers

Location: Pacific Northwest US, prefer Seattle area or Portland


Required Technical and Professional Expertise
  • At least 1 year of experience in selling storage solutions (hardware or software)
  • At least 5 years of quota-bearing achievement in sales, preferably in Enterprise sales
  • At least 5 years of experience selling in the Healthcare ecosystem (Pharma, Life Sciences, Provider, Payer, Research) with specific focus on data in Analytics, HPC, Cloud, Object, Back-up/Archive
  • At least 5 years of experience developing solution requirements in the Public Sector market

Preferred Technical and Professional Expertise
  • At least 3+ years of experience in selling storage solutions
  • Comprehensive understanding of traditional block, file and object storage as well as converged and hyperconverged solutions
