Sustainability and Utilities Engineer-Senior Resource Job Description The Sustainability and Utilities Engineer Senior Resource is responsible for maintaining & improving the Utility Intensity metrics in Water, Fuel, Electric, Waste, and Yield loss. Responsibilities include cost efficiency, continuous improvements on processes, service, and safety. This role develops mastery of the processes they are assigned to and uses that mastery to deliver improved safety, utility intensities, quality, and yield. Major Tasks, Accountabilities and Key Responsibilities: Champion the sites utility reduction targets as it relates to Water, Fuel, Electric, Waste, and Yield Loss Understand and lead maintenance, repair and improvement of thermal processing equipment including heat exchangers, heat recovery systems and CIP systems Lead the utility data system management, including its development, maintenance & leading change management initiatives including required testing programs (boilers, pressure vessels, device calibrations) Responsible for utility loss analysis & intensity ratio improvement plan execution, results tracking, and reporting Lead maintenance and continuous improvement related to water processing systems, boilers, compressed air, cooling towers, water softening, electrical systems, HVAC, wastewater, condensate return, etc. Represent the facility as the air emissions program and pressure vessel element leader Assist in the development, installation and commissioning of capital projects related to utility and sustainability capital projects Lead analytical troubleshooting & problem solving on utility losses and thermal processing Develop annual operating plan, yield improvement plans, and fixed budgets Coach and train others (salaried and hourly) on utility systems and thermal processing Develop new and improve existing utilities PMs and champion completion and corrective work orders Develop yourself and utility teams to solve and manage the day-to-day operational issues and reach short-term and long-term performance goals Deliver effective change leadership - driving business changes while minimizing people impact Communicate and collaborate cross-functionally to assist teams to solve operational issues Motivate team members across all departments to achieve plant and PBNA goals Understand the fundamental tools & methodologies of the following TPM pillars Safety, FI, AM, PM and EM Understand the CQV process Commissioning, Qualification, Verification Provide weekly, period, and year-to-date reliability and variability downtime analysis support operations Apply reliability expertise to stabilize and improve the operation, driving variation down and seeking improved metrics through capital, procedural, and operational improvements in both planned and unplanned downtime areas Demonstrate good oral and written communication skills through leading meetings, facilitating meetings, and preparing written plant communications Assist in plant initiatives and direct line supervision as needed Administer policies and procedures Regular and predictable attendance at the work site Requires regular presence on the plant floor Requires occasional work in poor weather conditions, including heat, cold, rain, or snow Required to work off-shift and weekends as needed to support projects This role may require some travel (less than 5%) Qualifications/Requirements Bachelors degree or equivalent experience required. Preferably in engineering, business, operations management, or similar field technical background preferred Lean Six Sigma Experience preferred, demonstrated by successful completion of a major continuous improvement projects. 2 + years of manufacturing experience in a consumer products manufacturing operation preferred Automation and Controls experience a plus Industrial utility systems knowledge a plus Self-motivated, results driven and action oriented Ability to make independent and sound decisions Ability to conduct assessments and audits and evaluate to measure progress Effective oral and written communication skills Understanding of Business Finance principles Proficient in Microsoft Suite applications Ability to give and receive constructive feedback Ability to lead a team-based approach to decision making Ability to work in a results oriented, fast-paced, challenging environment Strong leadership with the ability to get results through mentoring others Effective coaching, facilitation, presentation, and team building skills This position is limited to persons with indefinite right to work in the United States Must have a valid drivers license Safe driving record strongly preferred COVID-19 vaccination is a condition of employment for this role.
