Myriad Women's Health is looking for a Sustaining Engineer to join our automation team. The automation team is a multidisciplinary group of engineers with backgrounds in mechanical, electrical, software, and controls engineering.

As sample volume at Myriad Women's Health increases, our systems and processes become larger, more complex, and ever more impactful. As we progress, we need a Sustaining Engineer to ensure the continued high-quality operation of our existing systems.

As a Sustaining Engineer, you will play a key role in the improvement and upkeep of our existing automation systems. In doing so, you will collaborate with various other teams including laboratory operations, maintenance, and IT to work on improvement projects and act as a liaison for the automation team, mainly the hardware sub-team. Your work will be highly important to the continued success of the business, making sure systems are continually improved upon and performing optimally.


  • Learn the ins and outs of our robotic laboratory automation systems and use that knowledge to collaborate on work with the operations and IT teams.
  • Conduct meetings and discuss projects with cross-functional teams to identify, analyze, and triage production issues, as well as propose and execute on solutions to those issues.

  • Implement engineering changes to existing devices and equipment in order to improve reliability, manufacturability, serviceability, and decrease cost.
  • Create and manage detailed BOM and test documentation for parts, assemblies, and systems.
  • Document and implement change requests with ECO/DCO change control processes.
  • Aid in the buildout and qualification testing of new automation equipment.


  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Biomedical Engineering, or a related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • 1-3 years of industry experience
  • Hands on experience with electro-mechanical assembly, wiring, soldering, and troubleshooting
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Experience working with external vendors and suppliers
  • Experience creating and maintaining detailed BOM documents and part and assembly drawings
  • Experience with liquid handling robotics (Tecan, Hamilton, Beckman, etc.) is a plus
  • Project management experience is a plus

  • Experience with system integration or factory automation is a plus
