Job Description

The System Director of Business Development is responsible for all aspects of sales and business development  for South Texas Health System as assigned by the Regional Vice President.  Includes understanding the market and developing a cogent business plan (with continuous updates throughout each year) containing an up-to-date analysis of the market and demographics, actionable strategies to improve access to care, defined milestones with due dates, and measures of success for those actionable strategies defined, to support the South Texas Health System’s vision and strategy.  Evaluate, analyze, and interpret market demographics, including population, age, gender, race, and projected trends for both physicians and patient populations; reports market share changes.  Maintain active oversight and responsibility for identifying, developing, aligning, and retaining referrals from market physicians and referring hospitals for all South Texas Health System service lines. Identifies target markets and is very familiar with operations, referral dynamics, and key roles within the healthcare inpatient and outpatient environments. Facilitates the retention of community relationships with elected officials, business leaders and others as requested by the Regional Vice President.  Provide thorough explanation of service line attributes, processes, and outcomes to consumer, physician, and market facility groups/individuals as needed.  Identifies and analyzes opportunities to start and/or enhance new service line business and other hospital-specific sales responsibilities.    Manages the daily and strategic oversight of a multi-person Physician Relationship Management team, with direct reporting responsibility.  Coordinates efforts with the employed physician group (IPM – South Texas Health System Clinics)  to take advantage of market opportunities to improve access to care for the communities served. 

Job Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS:

Five (5) years of progressivebusiness development, administrative, or clinical experience in a hospital-based or multi-hospital-based environment  Management of clinical and/or administrative staffin the past is preferred.  Requires a minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in business, healthcare administration, public health administration or related field from an accredited college or university; Master’s degree in Healthcare Administration, Business or Economics preferred.  Computer proficiency to include internet research, word processing, spreadsheets, databases and graphic software. Outstanding written and verbal communication skills required. Must have the ability to create and present professional presentations.  Requires the ability to travel by automobile in the service area on a regular basis. Frequently required to work early morning, evening and occasional weekend hours.  Must demonstrate commitment and adherence to STHS’s Compliance Program and Code of Conduct through compliance with all policies and procedures, the Code of Conduct, attendance at required training and immediately reporting suspected compliance issue(s) to the Compliance Officer.
