The individual in this position is responsible for a business unit of the Trust Company, leading a team of associates who administer the trust accounts of Edward Jones Trust Company clients. The associates responsible to the Leader will include multiple disciplines and responsibilities of the Trust Company, such as:

* Daily management and support of probate and estate settlement trust administration in accordance with Edward Jones Trust Company guidelines, fiduciary standards, trust agreements, wills, powers of attorney and all contracts relating to the account relationship.
* Developing, strengthening, and retaining client, beneficiary and branch team relationships;
* Reviewing, understanding, and interpreting trust agreements, wills, powers of attorney and other contracts to limit regulatory and legal risk;
* Discussing and explaining complex tax and estate planning concepts and trust terms with beneficiaries and financial advisors;
* Managing client service with other Trust Company and Operations associates, branch teams, attorneys, CPAs and outside business professionals with an emphasis on probate and post-death trust matters;
* Formulating plans for the execution of estate plans, using tax planning analysis and wealth transfer strategies;
* Engaging outside attorneys; including managing and following up on legal work performed by outside attorneys;
* Discretionary management of all trust account types and execution of estate plans in accordance with Edward Jones Trust Company guidelines, fiduciary standards, trust agreements, wills, powers of attorney, beneficiary designations and all contracts relating to the relationship to manage the account and limit regulatory and legal risk;
* Partnering with financial advisors to fully understand client needs and deliver an excellent client experience;
* Evaluating discretionary distribution standards and making discretionary decisions;
* Articulating legal principals, explaining legal processes, and making recommendations based on legal factors;
* Delivering the overall client experience with the Trust Company.

The Leader will be responsible for:

* Business planning initiatives and financial results of the business unit;
* Leading initiatives within the department, across the division, and firm-wide that improve our ability to serve our clients and support the firm's mission;

* The overall experience of clients and branch teams;
* Associates' compliance with governing documents, Trust Company policies and procedures and applicable laws and regulations;
* Partnering with multiple areas in the Trust Company and firm to achieve business objectives;
* Developing, coaching and leading associates with various professional and industry certifications;
* Fulfilling actions delegated by the Trust Company Board of Directors and demonstrating proper exercise of this authority to the Board, regulators and auditors;
* Managing service activities related to account administration;
* Developing and implementing guidelines and procedures;
* Serving as a voting member of Trust Company committees.

The Leader must be able to understand and monitor the work of trust professionals, demonstrate an advanced ability to balance compliance, legal, and business decisions and encourage appropriate decision making of associates.

Bachelor's degree required; Trust company or financial services background with law degree, CTFA, CFP or other trust and planning designation strongly preferred;
Significant leadership experience required;
Demonstrated ability to provide feedback and develop associates required;
Experience in identifying, managing and communicating service lapses strongly preferred;
Minimum of 6 years' experience in administering or investing trust accounts or related roles that required making fiduciary decisions which will be relied upon by others;
Must have strong understanding of legal concepts of trust administration, investments and portfolio management strategies. Must be familiar with Uniform Trust Code. Must have strong understanding of fiduciary risk, estate planning principles, taxes, insurance and other financial planning and fiduciary relationship-related items.
Experience dealing with regulatory audits, issue resolution, drafting of guidelines and procedures strongly preferred;
Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills (especially in complex matters) and interpersonal skills;
Demonstrated critical thinking skills and ability to use discretion in highly complex situations.
