Be Wildly Successful!

As a Wireless Technical Consulting Engineer, you will learn and master Cisco Wireless and Location products, engage with customers to solve business-critical networking services, and partner with all key players of the service chain.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Contribute significantly to support communities through posts, blogs, and videos
  • Exercise judgment within defined procedures to determine appropriate action - and redefine when needed
  • Knowledge of scripting including Python a plus
  • Promote and solicits ideas within project team(s)
  • Provide top-tier collaborative consultation (via phone/email/WebEx) to independently solve and support Cisco customers.
  • Act as the focal point for network problem resolution between Cisco, our customers, engineering, and industry third parties.
  • Be a technical specialist on Wireless networking and Cisco Wireless network elements, both hardware and software.
  • Contribute to our ever-evolving innovation, scripting, and IC digitization content
  • Use your expertise to identify product and reference gaps, and build content for publishing
  • Interact across TAC teams and development teams at peer level
  • Keep knowledge portals current through article contributions
  • Handle critical customer issues/problems
  • Always mindful and passionate about Customer Success

Who You'll Work With

The Cisco Customer Experience (CX) Technical Assistance Center (TAC) seeks a Technical Consulting Engineer (TCE) in Wireless LAN technology (Wi-Fi and Location). Join some of the industry's brightest minds in developing and deploying today's most sophisticated WiFi6 technologies.

Who You Are

The ideal candidate demonstrates an aptitude and appetite for learning new technologies, evidenced by the ability to expand upon core knowledge. This is a superb opportunity for someone with patience and an empathetic view of the customer to hone their skills and advance their career providing value to customers while working with an industry leader in networking technology.

Required Product Knowledge and Technical Skills:

  • Typically requires BS in a technical field (CS/EE preferred) or equivalent plus 3 to 5 years related experience.
  • Ability to work effectively with and provide mentorship to other members of the work group
  • Ability to determine root cause and resolution on previously unknown problems.
  • Expert knowledge of foundational L1/L2/L3 networking technologies, products, and protocols.
  • Minimum 3 years of industry practical experience designing, deploying, configuring, supporting, trouble shooting, de-bugging and coordinating small, medium, large and/or enterprise business networks
  • Solid grasp of LAN Switching and IP Routing Infrastructure
  • LAG, Port Channel, VSS, HSRP Experience
  • Security in the areas of authentication, encryption, IDS/IPS using RADIUS, AAA authentication, 802.1x EAP, PKI
  • Wireless Access Points, Wireless LAN Controllers, Antennas
  • IEEE 802.11 standards (a,b,g,n,ac,ax)
  • Wi-Fi 802.1x & Webauth
  • RF transmission fundamentals
  • WPA2/WPA3
  • Site survey and location service experience desirable
  • Industry Wireless experience will be given strong preference
  • Wireless Client Interoperability (Windows, iOS, Mac OS, Android)
  • CCIE, CCNA/CCNP preferred
