Your Role and Responsibilities
The Cloud Platform technical sales specialist is a technical professional responsible for solution design of opportunities, engaging with clients. The Cloud Platform technical sales team supports the clients and works collaboratively with the sales team and IBM business partners. The responsibilities of Cloud Platform technical sales specialist include assistance in closing sales opportunities by removing technical roadblocks, demonstrating function, illustrating IBM value, competitive differentiation, assisting with proof of concepts, validating solution architecture, assisting in scoping and pricing, and assisting in generating and qualifying new opportunities.

The Cloud Platform technical sales role requires strong technical skills and knowledge to design, solution, and configure IBM Cloud Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS) solutions including IBM Cloud for VMware Solutions, IBM Cloud for Skytap Solutions, and Cloud Object Storage.

Networking experience in Layer 2/Layer 3 Datacenter, LAN/WAN network and carrier infrastructure is a plus

Additional knowledge and technical skills across the Cloud Platform portfolio is a plus including Networking experience in Layer 2/Layer 3 Datacenter, LAN/WAN network and carrier, IBM Virtual Private Cloud (VPC), High Performance Compute (HPC), Cloud Internet Services (Cloudflare), Platform-as-a Service (PaaS) Runtime Cloud Foundry, Containers, Kubernetes and Cloud Functions, in addition to 150 APIs and services spanning Cognitive, Blockchain and Data Science.

Required Technical and Professional Expertise
  • At least 5-8 years experience in pre-sales or technical consulting experience
  • At least 3-5 years experience of VMWare technologies, including vSphere, VSAN and NSX, in addition to deploying and configuring VMWare clusters
  • At least 3-5 years experience in technical knowledge of cloud and virtualization
  • strategies (VMware, Microsoft HyperV, Citrix XenServer, etc.)
  • At least 3-5 years experience in Networking, IP addressing, Virtual Private Network (VPN), Load Balancing, Firewalls, and Security
  • At least 3-5 years experience of Skytap, Zerto, Veeam, Hytrust
  • At least 3-5 years experience in Cloud Object Storage
  • Basic knowledge in customer service, written, verbal and presentation skills

Preferred Technical and Professional Expertise
  • Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology
  • Certified in At least one platform (e.g. MCSE, RHCE, Cisco, technology and/or security certification (e.g. CISSP)
