The instrument technician is responsible for maintaining, calibrating, and troubleshooting all process automation systems and devices at this site and to be compliant with corporate polices to ensure the highest level of safety, quality, and asset reliability.

 
PRIMARY JOB DUTIES:
  • Support, and actively contribute to, operational systems and processes such as breakdown analysis, preventive maintenance task optimization, and root cause analysis
  • Effectively complete assigned preventive maintenance tasks as generated by the CMMS and document results as required
  • Effectively complete assigned calibration maintenance tasks as generated by the CMMS and document results as required
  • Diagnose and resolve technical issues with site wide production and utilities equipment
  • Effectively prioritize and complete scheduled shift and project work assigned by planners and leadership
  • Maintain compliance with site management of change policies
  • Escalate problems to internal/vendor subject matter experts for effective solutions
  • Identify recurring maintenance problems and develop proactive plans to eliminate recurrence.
  • Perform other related duties assigned by leadership

 

  • Read and understand P&ID drawings, schematics and equipment diagrams to analyze or troubleshoot systems.
  • Read and interpret equipment drawings/manuals.
  • Proficiency in using software including but not limited to Excel, Word, Power Point, and Outlook
  • Must meet the minimum of prerequisites to achieve an ISA level 2, Certified Control Systems Technician (CCST®) certification within 12 months of selection. The minimum prerequisites are seven-years total of education, training, and/or experience and the following elements will be used to satisfy this requirement
  • A registered apprenticeship in an instrumentation, measurement and control, electronics, electrical, and/or mechanical program if applicable.
  • Academic degree (or equivalent) in a related technology area, to a maximum of four years.
  • Related work experience, including at least two years in instrumentation/measurement and control.
  • Electrical safety and National Electric Code knowledge
  • Experience with Allen Bradley PLC families programming and troubleshooting
  • Experience with DeviceNet and Ethernet network setup and troubleshooting
  • Experience with Allen Bradley HMI or Visualization platforms including screen modifying
  • Experience with smart sensor programming via Hart
  • Experience with Calibration of instrumentation devices
  • Must work well in a collaborative, team environment cross functionality
  • Strong organizational skills
