*This position can be remote and located anywhere within the east coast or central, near a major airport. *
The Vehicle Programs Engineer will work with fleet leadership and business stakeholders to design vehicles to meet current and future business needs while driving reductions in total cost of ownership and advancing sustainability efforts. The engineer will be responsible for managing vendors to improve quality, reduce total cost of ownership and drive innovation. As the sole engineer for this department, project management will also be critical to keeping projects on time and projects should result in data analysis to draw conclusions on recommendations to leadership. Leadership will also look to this role to develop continuous improvement processes with vendors and manufacturers. The position will be supporting all divisions under the Cox umbrella of businesses and will require a consultative approach, excellent customer service and strong analytical skills.
Duties and responsibilities:

* Define vehicle specifications with a focus on safety, quality, sustainability, and total cost of ownership reduction.
* Reduce carbon footprint of vehicles and equipment.
* Serve as the department expert in vehicle electrification and alternative fuel technology.
* Partner with other departments including facilities and finance to advance the infrastructure required to support green technology.
* Serve as a liaison between Fleet, Cox Conserves and the divisions to track sustainability progress and implement advancements in the automotive industry.
* Perform vehicle, equipment and part pilot programs including data collection, analysis, and program recommendations.
* Develop and maintain technical specifications on vehicles and aftermarket equipment including mechanical and electrical specifications and schematics.
* Mange vendor quality and implement a continuous improvement relationship between Cox and suppliers.

* Bachelors degree in an engineering field required.
* Fleet/Automotive or sustainability experience required.
* 2 years of leading teams or projects preferred.
* Strong analytical skills with the ability to drive projects that achieve results.
* Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to effectively communicate with peers, business partners, and leadership to impact change across the organization.
* Ability to interact with internal and external business partners supporting corporate policy, standards, processes and procedures.
* Ability to demonstrate a consultative approach to customer needs, run reports and interpretate data to draw conclusions.
* Strong proficiency with computers and Microsoft Office programs; strong MS Excel proficiency required.
* Self-motivated, able to manage multiple projects, prioritize work to meet deadlines, and work under pressure in a fast paced, high energy environment.
* Works well in a team environment by supporting departmental initiatives and goals.
* Provide excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
* Ability to sit or stand for prolonged periods of time.
* Travel required up to 10% of the time.
