Employee Benefits Investments (EBI) is responsible for over $20 billion in assets in retirement assets in Prudentials pension, 401(k) Plan and other portfolios. The companys pension plan is invested in a broad array of diversified investments including domestic and international bonds, real estate, hedge funds, global private equity, and domestic and international public equity. The 401(k) Plan provides similarly diversified investment options selected and monitored by EBI.


EBIs mission is to select the best investment vehicles and structures on behalf of Prudentials retirement plan participants. It is a forward-thinking team that takes seriously its mandate to invest prudently and in a diversified manner to serve the Companys Plans participants.

Reporting to the Chief Investment Officer, Employee Benefits Plans, the Investment Officer will assist in the management of all employee benefit plans, including Prudentials pension, 401(k) Plan Merged Retirement Plan (PESP), and the Welfare Benefits Plan/401(h) account. 


The Investment Officer responsibilities:

  • Partner with the CIO in investment manager due diligence and recommendations, including hiring, retaining, or termination.
    Monitor asset manager strategies and performance across fixed income, public equity, private equity, real estate, and hedge funds.
  • Conduct regular reviews, calls, and visits with investment managers.
  • Partner with CIO in the developing memos and presentations to the Investment Oversight Committee for approval.
  • Regular reporting to the Investment Oversight Committee.
  • Supporting reporting to the Investment Committee of the Board of Directors on the performance of the Plans.
  • Develop quantitative risk analyses of the Plans. Strategic planning for asset strategy to fund all anticipated liability streams (pension, welfare).
  • Day to day funding authorizations and other administrative tasks in conjunction with support staff.
  • Partner with external consultants and actuaries.
  • Assist CIO in Department of Labor and other regulatory compliance issues.
  • Working with and supporting the goals of Benefits, HR&CR, and accounting areas.
  • The successful candidate will serve as an ERISA fiduciary.


The successful applicant will have the following qualifications:

  • 10 years investment (Asset, portfolio, and/or risk) management experience
  • Investment manager risk management or due diligence experience
  • Experience working with actuaries and/or counsel
  • MBA, FRM or CFA designation
  • Mathematics, engineering, or actuarial training preferred
  • Be both process- and detail-oriented with the ability to prioritize multiple responsibilities under tight deadlines
  • An unwavering ethical compass and mature business character
  • Ability to travel, including international, will be required but no more than 25% excluding regional day trips such as NYC
