In this critical leadership role, you will be accountable for directing the provider network and contracting activities of the $56B drug spend portfolio and lead a team of 50+ people. This includes leading all aspects of provider network strategy including, complex negotiations, network provider credentialing, and support decision makers with analysis related to reimbursement and unit cost management. You will develop and nurture relationships to achieve organizational goals with respect to drug costs and developing solutions to grow the business. Will be responsible for generating year over year margin improvements.

Specific responsibilities will include:

  • In partnership with stakeholders, lead the development and implementation of all provider network management strategies and programs
  • ""
  • Lead and complete large and complex negotiations
  • ""
  • Establish the departments strategic vision, objectives, and policies and procedures
  • ""
  • Develop, implement and maintain production and quality standards for the Contracting department
  • ""
  • Incorporate new, innovative, emerging and/or effective quality and cost control solutions to improve the delivery of high quality and cost-effective care for the organizations membership
  • ""
  • Develop an ongoing plan to fill skill gaps, including but not limited to training, cross-training, reassigning roles, employee engagement
  • ""
  • Support and validate unit cost management activities through financial and network pricing modeling, analysis, and reporting
  • ""
  • Conduct unit cost and contract valuation analysis in support of network contracting negotiations and unit cost management strategies
  • ""
  • Manage unit cost budgets, target setting, performance reporting, and associated financial models
  • ""
  • Help create custom solutions for strategic clients
  • ""
  • Develop analytic team and capabilities to support external clients and internal partners
  • ""
  • Oversee network development staff in the development of provider networks across expansion markets
  • ""
  • Perform periodic analyses of the provider network from a cost, coverage, and growth perspective
  • ""
  • Provide leadership in evaluating opportunities to expand or change the network
  • ""
  • Manage budgeting and forecasting initiatives for product lines, networks costs and provider contracts
  • ""
  • Oversee analysis of claim trend data and/or market information to derive conclusions to support contract negotiations
  • ""
  • Conduct periodic review of provider contracting rates to ensure strategic focus is on target with overall Company strategy
  • ""
  • Collaborate with Human Capital to develop and complete an assessment of staff core competencies, as part of an effort to attract, retain and develop top talent

Candidates will possess:

  • 10 + years of relevant PBM or health plan experience
  • ""
  • Demonstrated competency in strategy development, negotiations, execution and implementation of networks and contracts
  • ""
  • Proven expertise in PBM, Pharmacy and/or Provider contracting (PBM preferred)
  • ""
  • Deep experience in pricing and network strategy
  • ""
  • Understanding of PBM & Pharmacy economics
  • ""
  • Experience leading & motivating a geographically dispersed team of 50+ people through other leaders
  • ""
  • Track record of success driving strategy development and change leadership efforts
  • ""
  • Experience working cross functionally with teams including, but not limited to, Industry and Network, Client, Clinical, Analytics, Finance, Industry & Network, Product
  • ""
  • Previous experience interacting with Executive Leadership team members
  • ""
  • Bachelors degree in Business Administration, Healthcare Administration or related field, or equivalent experience (relevant advanced degree (MHA or MBA) preferred)
