About the position

Prudential is seeking to recruit an executive to contribute to the Corporate Communications group in a variety of leadership capacities. As currently conceived, the role will entail function and operational communications for Corporate Communications, communications for Prudentials Legal, Compliance, Business Ethics and External Affairs (LCBE) center, Enterprise Issues Response and a Special Projects leader to join the Corporate Communications Team.

 

Reporting to the Vice President, Policy, Issues and Partnerships, within Corporate Communications, the new Vice President will lead the day to day activities of a team of four who are focused on supporting the LCBE organization internally and externally and managing Prudentials Enterprise Crisis Response in service of protecting the companys reputation.  The Vice President will work as a colleague, strategist and manager of people as well as a tactician as the needs of initiatives demand. The role partners directly with the C-suite, subject matter experts and corporate function and business partners associated with LCBE and across the company.

 

This executive will also work closely with both the Vice President, Policy, Issues and Partnerships and the Head of Corporate Communications serving as their proxy on a variety of senior executive-facing engagements, learning and development initiatives for the 100 person Global Communications function, and operational communications for the 30 person corporate communications group.  Importantly, the individual will serve in a significant diplomatic capacity as communications within Prudential evolves into an increasingly important strategic business function.

 

Roles and Responsibilities

 

  • Partner with colleagues within functions (e.g., Legal, Compliance, and Business Ethics, Businesses, Finance, Corporate Governance) and Global Communications to provide communications support for Prudentials corporate centers and broader, enterprise-wide initiatives
  • Lead a team of four direct reports, while also serving as a coach and mentor for others within the Corporate Communications team
  • Work closely with communications and business leaders on issues response, as needed
  • Create strategic communications materials including but not limited to, cyber security and enterprise risk plans, company issues response and media statements, internal and external executive communications.  
  • Serve in a deputy capacity to the VP, Policy, Issues and Partnerships and Head of Corporate Communications on significant enterprise, group and global communications initiatives
  • Lead special projects as they arise for Global Communications partnering across a diverse function that interfaces with every business unit and function within Prudential
  • Contribute at a high level of maturity and proficiency as a counselor, content creator and emissary in order to get things done



Qualifications

Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in any field of academic rigor, advanced degree in a relevant field of study is preferred, but not required

  • Proven professional experience and track record of high achievement

  • Exceptionally diplomatic and mature with indisputable executive presence

  • Superb writing and organizational savvy and skills

  • 15 years experience in communications, consulting, policy, government and/or marketing  with at least five years experience in a professional services firm, e.g., agency, PR firm, business consultancy
